In Spring of 2007, CBG became a regional partner of the HealthCare Benefits Trust - a 35 year old risk pool developed for healthcare providers that provides proprietary plan designs, service, claims administration, and pricing for Trust participants for Disability (Long Term and Short Term), Life, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment.
We became interested in this opportunity because many organizations spend a vast majority of the time focused on the big budget and ever-increasing healthcare costs but tend to overlook their ancillary benefit plans. Yet, these plans - STD, LTD, and Life/AD&D - can represent a sizeable portion of the employee benefits budget - especially when combined.
Because The Trust is focused specifically on the Healthcare and Life Sciences industries, its plan designs reflect the specific needs of healthcare providers. For example, with the current nursing shortage, our RN Recruitment Benefit helps with the expense of RN Recruitment. If an RN becomes disabled, a benefit equal to a portion of the RN's annual income is paid to the hospital to help offset the cost of recruiting a new RN.
